Fig 1.1 Attempt 1 - Project 1
After getting Feedback From Mr Vinod, he advised me to choose a more relavant iamge for my keyart work which able to bring out the meaning of the event.

Modified image and elements

Outcome - Photo for Keyartwork
After getting feedback, I look for differnt image, combine and modified them in order to make it more suitabe to work on my key artwork.

Mr Vinod advised me to proceed my design wihout using the redline, and try to put more interplay in the design, which is working further on attempt 4.

Feedbacks

Week 7

Online Feedback:
Rachel, the person is not representative of a troublemaker no? The design is good but not relatable. Change the image to something more relatable to a creative person.

Week 8

Online Feedback:
Hmmm it’s ok. Could do with more visual impact. The last one be is better without the red line but the manifesto word is not working in its placement.

Reflections

Experiences

Week 6

Mr Vinod brief us about Project 1. Then we started to find image for our key artwork. Since my type and play part 2 have not been approve, I continue to work on it.

Week 7

At first, I choose a photograph of a parrot, Mr Shamsul said it was not relate to the topic, so I move and and look for a more relatable and suitable image.

Week 8

I started to work with differnt layout and composition to improve my key artwork in order to finalize it and move on to the following project.

Observations

Week 6

Mr Vinod said that our Project 1 is a key artwork which is not a poster, we need to be aware when we design it, and the message should be deliver also.

Week 7

Considering the placement of text and the composition of photograph was not easy, we need to show a clear interplay between the photograph and types, also be concern of the message that need to be deliver by choosing a suitable photograph to work with.

Week 8

The placement of text and the photograph can be an important method to determine wether a design is suitable for a topic which can effectively portray the message behind a design itself.

Findings

Week 6

By looking for suitable photograph for Project 1, I also went through seniors work to have a clearer idea on doing it.

Week 7

In the process of design, I found out that it was very interesting that we can put words with the photograph which can create a different visual and outcome for it.

Week 8

I found out that looking at different reference will be effetcive in my design prgress which having a suitable guideline that able to improve my design outcome.

Further Readings

Week 7

Grid Systems : Principles of Organizing Type by Kimberly Elam.

Fig 2.1 Book Cover - Grid Systems

Chapter : Horizontal / Vertical Composition

As stated by the author, composition plays an important role on a person's reading direction, such as the same visual principles of grouping, edge and axial alignment, also the law of thirds apply in the overall design. Based on the picture below, rotation of the text may determine the visual weight of the design, which result a more suitable hierarchy order by changing the position of content.
Fig 2.2 Composition (rotation of text)
In conclusion, we can clearly understand that the placement of text is a significant part in design process, the composition and direction of text can be play around which to create a moe interesting and favourbale outcome for the deisgn.

Week 8

Chapter : Typographic Hierarchy

This chapter is talking about typographic hierarchy by applying the methods of alignment, composition, rules and non-objective element with the arrangement of content and different visual effects by implement those method with it. Based on figure 2.3, leading will be able to determine the readability of the content especially when it comes to a large amount of text, a suitable leading should be 20% of the type size.

Fig 2.3 Typographic hierarchy - Leading
Fig 2.4 Typographic hierarchy - Compositions

Besides, based on figure 2.4, we get to know that compositions and arrangement of the content may result different hierarchy and visual effect which able to determine the audience reading sequence while looking at it. By playing around with different compositions, audience may spot the important or high-lighted event from content, which explains the principle of hierarchy well.
